Our Mission

"The Alamo Winnies have a great formula for fun filled and adventurous get

togethers: campgrounds with clubhouses for meetings, pot luck meals, games, movie

nights, and getting out of the weather. Each gathering includes a Cook's night out.

There's daily social hours in the afternoon at a member's campsite and our canine

members are invited.  We also invite guest speakers and go on excursions to

local points of interest."

2018 Holiday Newsletter

The holidays are over and the Alamo Winnies celebrated as only we can!

Our September rally at the Brackenridge Recreation Complex in Edna was cancelled because of bad weather. Our October rally was the first time we got together since the summer break. It was also the first time we stayed at the Alsatian RV Resort in Castroville and sure hope we can go back there soon. The staff were great and made us feel really welcomed. The campsites were paved and level with plenty of room between the sites. What more can an RVer ask for?

We spent Thanksgiving at Parkview River RV Resort in Concan, Texas, right on the Frio River and right across from Garner State Park. Weve spent several previous Thanksgivings there and its almost like home to many of us. They have a great rally hall and a kitchen that allows for cooking up turkeys and everything that goes with it. In addition to the best Thanksgiving dinner that left all of us in tryptophan coma we kept ourselves busy with a wine tasting contest that was enjoyed by everyonewho wouldnt enjoy a wine tasting contest? Dave won the contest with his Forte Red Wine. Al and Larry did a hilarious skit about parking RVs, you put those two guys together and you know its going to be funny! But the highlight to the weekend (besides the dinner and 23 pound turkey expertly cooked by Al and Marilyn of course) was a gingerbread dog house project engineered by our resident baker, Jennefer. Anyone who has a pet, be it a dog or a cat or other type critter, decorated gingerbread houses for Christmas. Without a doubt we have some really talented decorators as can be seen by the pictures. Everyone was tasked with taking their houses home and bring them back for our Alamo Winnie Christmas rally.

And thats what everyone did when we met at Oakwood RV Resort in Fredericksburg. Jennefer had made more gingerbread houses and the rally room dinner tables were decorated with a trail of gingerbread buildings, an obstacle course for our dogs and park benches made of sugar wafers. Everything was fun to make and the centerpieces made our Christmas dinner very special. But no one can accuse the Winnies of just sitting around during our get togethers. We went to the Silver Creek Beer Garden and Grill for a cooks luncheon out. You cant go to Fredericksburg without doing some wine tasting and we did that at the 4 Point Cellars. We also did a Winnie Wiener Wurst Roast. Of course we decorated our rigs to be in the spirit of the holidays and Joys rig was chosen as the the best decorated.

On our last day we all got together for a group pictureoh no, not of the humans, but of our Alamo Winnie Pack, all our dogs who, by the way, have matching bandannas. Yes! We love our pets! But we all think of each other as family and it was a wonderful holiday season when we could all get together and celebrate together.
